“The Notebook” by Nicholas Spark

There are various books that I have read from classic to mystery to romance. Books to me are like friends that we get connected to, share secrets and like to spend time with. From all the books that I have read my all-time favorite book is “The Notebook” by Nicholas Spark.
Have you imagine how long you can love an individual? Is “love you forever” just a statement or a promise? In “the notebook” Nicholas spark tells us a story about true love. Love that last even after getting separated for many years. Love that only keeps on growing and getting stronger with the passing years.
“The notebook” is a story about two elderly people that live in an aged home. The male character is named Noah and the female character is known as Allie. Allie was a patient who was suffering from Alzheimer’s, she used to forget very often. Every day was a new and fresh page to Allie as she never remembered about the day before. But for Noah it was just another day to read the same old story from his diary that he had been reading for months and years to Allie.  Allie would always forget the story Noah read to her in the day by night.
The story that Noah read daily to Allie was about two teenagers who meet each other through a common friend. The girl was from a rich family and the boy was from a poor family. Because both the teenagers were from the same friend circle, they started meeting regularly. This regular meetings brought the rich girl and the poor boy closer and closer which lead them to fall in love with one another. When the family of the rich girl got to know about her relationship with the poor boy they told her to breakup with him, which made the girl upset. According to the rich girl money has no value when compared of love. But according to the girl’s mother money is more important than love, as you need money to survive not love. Later on the girl’s dad got a transfer and she had to leave the small town and move to a big city. This lead to a harsh heartbreak between the rich girl and the poor boy.
Few years later the girl grew up as a popular city girl with new friends. She was engaged and would be married in few months. Whereas the small town poor boy had joined the army and had returned from a war. The boy had a house that he build by himself after returning from the war. He posted an advertisement about the house in the newspaper so he could sell that house an earn for his living. Even though both were separated for years, still the love they had for each other would not let them forget the other person.
One day when the girl was shopping for her wedding she saw the advertisement about the house sale, she recognized it as the same house the poor boy wanted to build. The next day she went to the same small town where she had fallen in love in her teenage years. When she parked the car in front of the house the boy wanted to sell, he was shocked to see her. But they both could feel the love which they still had for each other. This meeting was awkward at the beginning but later they fought and expressed that they still loved each other. This brought them closer and they come to a decision that this time they would listen to their heart and live together for the rest of their life.
This was the love story that Noah would read out to Allie every day. The story that Noah always read to Allie was actually about the two of them. The rich girl was Allie and the poor boy was Noah. After Noah and Allie had decided to stay together they got married and had children. They realized that even though they were not rich they survived. They worked in the small town supported each other, supported their children and their love grew stronger day after day. When they both grew old Allie suffered from Alzheimer’s so she and Noah converted the house which Noah had built into an old age home. Here even though Allie never remembered Noah. He read their own love story to her on a daily. He believed that one day Allie would remember who he was and the love that she had for him would never die. Even though her brain could never recognized him, her heart would never forget who he was to her.
This story is my favorite because it proves that there is true love, you just need the right person to be your companion. The right person will always stay with you through your good and bad days. They will always be your support and be by your side till the end.
