This story is about a girl named Andrea Sachs who has a degree in English and dreams of finding a career in publishing. She moves to New York City with her best friend Lily, hoping to get a step closer to working in ‘The New Yorker’ which is a magazine industry. However she gets hired as a junior assistant for Miranda Priestly who is the editor in chief of the ‘Runway’ fashion magazine. Soon she finds out that her boss isn’t all nice and gentle but more of an evil person who has a dark side, who turns her employees into whimpering people. Miranda is more commonly referred to as ‘The Boss from Hell’ by Andrea.

While Andrea’s work load increases her relationship with her boyfriend also goes for a toss. Her relationship starts to suffer as she is not able to invest her time and energy into it. Her parents also become disappointed as she hadn’t met them in a span of a few months.  She is sorely tried and tested each day at her office by her boss who makes sure her employees do not rest in peace. The only thing that has Andrea holding onto this job is the position and influence her boss has in the industry. She knows if Miranda recommends her to anyone in the industry she will get a job at a top magazine company. However among all the mess, she soon starts to realize that she won’t be able to keep up with her job if things continue to splatter in her life like this. She understands that she cannot let her work and boss affect her life, relations, health and mental peace and tries to gauge if her job is worth it or not after all.
