We, human beings sometimes do not value the things we have. Also, we have forgotten that what it means to be alive. “Till the Last Breath” by Durjoy Datta is one such heart warming story about love, life and friendship that reminded me what it means to be alive!
The story was about the death sentences of the patients in Room No. 509. One of the patient was a brilliant nineteen year old medical student, who was suffering from an incurable, fatal disease pushing her towards a slow, painful death. She counts every extra breath as a blessing. On the other side, there was a wasteful twenty five year old drug addict whose every organ system is slowly shutting down. He can’t wait to get rid of his body. To him, it was like, the sooner the better! Putting their medical licenses at risk, two reputed doctors try everything to keep these two patients alive.
The thing I personally loved the most about this book was how their last days in the hospital change both the patients, their doctors and others around them in ways they had never fathomed.
