"How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnergie



 "How to win friends and influence people" is a self-help book written by Dale Carnegie first published in 1936! since then, there are various editions of this book and over 30 million copies have been sold over time making it the most bestselling books of all time. Dale Carnegie was a pioneer of personal business skills, self-confidence and motivational techniques.In Carnegie's exuberant, conversational style, he offers practical advice and techniques for how to get out of the mental rut and make your life more rewarding. The author starts out by entrusting us with 8 rules for getting the best out of the book. He has given a plethora of examples which makes it relatable and easy to apply at the same time staying very concise, concrete and relevant. His advice has stood the test of time and will tell you to:

  • Make friends and win easily
  • Win people over to your way of thinking
  • Improve your conversational skills and become more entertaining
  • Acquire new clients and customers.

 Dale Carnegie puts the deeply emotional nature of humans first, and the whole book is centred around two important concepts:

  1. No matter what they say, men and women are above all emotional beings with a vital need to look kindly on themselves.
  2. No matter how rational an argument might be, they will reject it most of the time if their self esteem is hurt.
Once you understand these two concepts, most of the principles of the book are simple to understand. All you have to do is apply them. As a book its brilliant, may change the way in which we look at human relationships and is easy to read.
